Essential Oil Details:
Blood Orange
Botanical Name: Citrus sinensis
Origin: Italy
Parts Used: Peel
Note: Middle to top; tart, bright, and sweetly fresh citrus
Color: orange
Distillation Method: Cold-pressed
Our blood orange essential oil comes from Italy and is delightful! It has that traditional bright citrusy scent of oranges with a little ooommph. Our blood orange essential has a deep orange/reddish color, so do be careful using it around fabrics as it can stain, which is how you know you are getting the good stuff!
Cape Lavender
Botanical Name: Lavandula angustifolia
Origin: South Africa
Cultivation: Organic
Parts Used: Flowers
Note: Middle; floral, with herbaceous and camphorous undertones
Color: Clearish
Distillation Method: Steam
This is one of our all-time favorite lavenders. It’s grown in the biodiversity hotspot of the Cape of South Africa, where the soil and plants are unique to that region. This lavender is a bit different in that while it is distinctly floral and lavender, the camphor components definitely come through for a full-bodied and rich scent. The higher camphor content makes it an excellent choice for therapeutic applications of lavender, i.e., as an anti-inflammatory or anti-spasmodic in topical massage oil blends or creams.
Douglas Fir
Botanical Name: Pseudotsuga menziesii
Cultivation: Organic and wildharvested
Origin: Washington state
Parts Used: Needles and sticks
Note: middle note; deep woodsy, crisp, pine-like with a slight citrus (grapefruit) undertone, clean, and invigorating
Color: Clearish yellow
Distillation Method: Steam
Douglas fir is one of those quintessential Christmas scents, with its deep woods fresh scent. It is a highly invigorating oil that helps to calm anxiety while also increasing concentration. It is an amazing oil for respiratory complaints, everything from asthma, shortness of breath, to congestion due to viruses.
Eucalyptus, Blue Mallee
Botanical Name: Eucalyptus polybractea
Cultivation: Organic
Origin: Australia
Parts Used: Leaves and Sticks
Note: Middle, strongly camphoraceous and medicinal
Color: Clear
Distillation Method: Steam
Our Eucalyptus polybractea, otherwise known as Blue Mallee Eucalyptus, is a wintertime essential. A traditional aboriginal medicine, it is an extremely effective expectorant, decongestant, and antimicrobial, particularly effective against staphylococcus bacteria.
Pink Grapefruit
Botanical Name: Citrus paradisi
Origin: Italy
Cultivation: Organic
Parts Used: Peel
Note: Middle to top, fresh, bright, and juicy citrus
Color: Pinkish peach
Distillation Method: Cold-pressed
Our Italian pink grapefruit essential oil, cold-pressed from the rind, is the perfect combination of sweet and crisp citrus. It’s a fruity top note that brings joy to any blend. Grapefruit is a great uplifting scent; it helps to boost energy and concentration when you feel like you are flagging. It’s also a natural anti-depressant, a powerful disinfectant, and is great in skincare recipes when you need to move fluids.
